The annual Squires Kitchen competition is highly regarded in the industry and to win gold is seen as the ultimate accolade for sugarcrafters.

Squires Kitchen has seen many a talented cake decorator win at their show go on to great things including setting up their own successful cake businesses and appearing in popular magazines such as Cakes & Sugarcraft and Wedding Cakes.

Louise Wilson of Lou's Amazing Cakes said, "I was inspired by the launch of a new painting on cake competition class at Squires Kitchen Exhibition. As an artist and a cake decorator this was a dream come true! I very much enjoy painting watercolours in my spare time, a technique that is very challenging to recreate on sugar, so I set out to produce a butterfly inspired meadow on a two-tier cake. As the first public cake decorating competition that I had ever entered, I was surprised and amazed to win, and it has resulted in giving me the confidence to teach this technique to others. My business has also benefitted since then, as I’m now widely recognised for being able to paint imaginative cake designs to order."
